A. We are a student transportation company. We dispatch drivers to transport students to and from school. These are students who are part of our vulnerable population such as in Foster Care or those who have special needs.

A. Each driver uses their own vehicle. It doesn’t have to be a special type. It can be a sedan, minivan, or SUV. Your vehicle must be in good condition with the seatbelts working properly. Vehicles must be maintained regularly and remain clean and reliable. No special equipment is needed. We will provide car seats or booster seats if necessary.

A. No, you do not. Your current liability policy is acceptable. We will provide additional insurance of up to $1,000,000 “while under dispatch” which will cover third party liability and property damage to your vehicle.

A. Each driver will be offered assignments that they can choose from. Once assigned, the routes will become that driver’s normal, daily schedule. Drivers establish a regular route that is repeated on a daily basis allowing them to be with the same students all school year long. This way drivers build a good rapport with the student and their families.

A. The driving schedule mirrors that of the school district. It takes place Monday – Friday. When school is out for the holidays and breaks, then no driving is required. The driving takes place in the morning when the students begin their school day, and again in the afternoon, when they are released from school.

A. When a driver picks up a student and drops them off it is defined as a “run”. Each run takes between 10 and 50 minutes, and ranges may vary for each run. Most drivers will drive anywhere from 2-5 runs per day.

A. No, we offer routes that are nearby the driver’s home. The “pay meter” does not start until the student is picked up. So, unless the driver prefers differently, we look to assign routes that are a close distance to the driver’s home.

A. Drivers are paid $22 per hour in California/$20 per hour in Maryland. plus a non-taxable mileage reimbursement. California drivers will be W2 employees of Purpose Driven Ride so paychecks will reflect all required State and Federal withholdings. Maryland divers are 1099 contractors.

A. This is a part-time position. Driving only takes place in the morning then again in the afternoon. There just isn’t a full day schedule available. Due to this being part-time work, no other employment benefits are available. However, Workers Compensation insurance is provided. If a driver is sick or needs a day off, they’re expected to communicate effectively when they are unable to drive allowing another driver can fill in.

A. Yes, each driver must submit their driver’s license, vehicle registration, and automobile insurance.
Drivers must also complete the following:
- Pass a background check
- Fingerprinting
- Submit to random drug and alcohol testing.
- Tuberculosis (TB) Testing
- A physical
- Complete CPR Training -
A. Yes. During you onboarding, you’ll be required to complete CPR training. Also, an online tutorial about transporting children with special needs.
Drivers won’t need any special devices; the only requirement is to have a smartphone. You’ll download the EverDriven app and use it to check in and out when conducting driving assignments. EverDriven works directly with the schools and communicates with the drivers daily.
